Prior to sterilizing, you may notice a slight "rubber" smell and oily coating. This is perfectly natural, due to a film of oil from the rubber tree that preserves the pacifier while packaged, and will disappear with sterilizing. (If sterilizing causes the pacifier to turn milky white on the edges, don't worry--the color will return upon cooling.) Clean after each use with warm water and mild liquid soap. Never wash pacifier in the dishwasher.
